KEEPIN' IT REAL (DIRTY)...

I was just perusing my friend Jon Runcio's site and found this gem in the Etc. section. This is a photo of artwork from Barry McGee to the gallery where Jon worked, with installation instructions... "KEEP GLASS DIRTY PLEASE." Awesome.

PRIMATES AT HOME...

Check out some weird, some funny and some great photos from Robin Schwartz.

IT'S STILL OK...

Check out the new installation from Sighn. I love this project... so much that I bought one of his wood pieces. So rad.

CHECK IT...

Sketchypad is a pretty cool little art blog. Enjoy.

OH, MARIAH...

It's America's favorite trainwreck, Mariah Carey, throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game in Tokyo. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I do.
She's a ho... fo' sho.

GIVE 'EM A HAND...

Holy cow... this video is amazing!!! It's 21 members of the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe performing the Thousand-hand Bodhisattva dance. All of the members are deaf. I would love to see this live. Enjoy.

MORE GOODNESS...

Fecal Face intern Megan Wolfe has posted more photos from the MARS-1 & David Choong Lee show at the Bucheon Gallery. Enjoy.

NEXT UP AT ANDENKEN...

Hey gang... the upcoming show at the Andenken Gallery looks pretty darn good. Merge: The art of Amanda Marie, Scott Lefavor, Vincent Comparetto. The show opens on June 6th at 7pm. I'll be there, so stop on by. For more info, check out their blog.

MY NEW LEAST FAVORITE...

Umm.... I have no idea what these idiots sound like, but I hate them. I mean, I really hate them. They are called Jamie's Elsewhere and they apparently love hair care products. My favorite is the chubby kid in the back left. The woman in the front looks pretty tough, too.

RANDOM SPACES...

Check out the photography of Phillip Toledano. Pretty rad.

COLLABORATIVE GENIUS...

MARS-1 and David Choong Lee teamed up for a show that opened at the Bucheon Gallerylast week... and it looks AMAZING!!! Check out some photos.

GOT A LIGHT?...

I remember first reading about artist and tattoo extraordinaire Jason D'Aquino in a tattoo mag a few years back. They were featuring his ink work, but they also showed the pencil series he had done on matchbook covers. I was blown away with the detail that he was able to get on such a tiny canvas. Here are a of my favorites (click for detail). Enjoy.

D'Aquino has a show called Delicate Execution: the Miniature Drawings of Jason D’Aquino at the Fuse Gallery in New York opening June 7th.

KINDA SKETCHY...

If you want to see how artists do what they do, check out Sketch Theatre. It has some great time-lapse videos of artists drawing up close. I recommend Cameron Davis and Nate Frizzell.

YOUR DAILY DOSE...

If you are looking to find out what is new and exciting in the world of contemporary art, be sure to check out Daily Serving. It is the "international forum for the exposure of contemporary art."

BEST NEW ALBUM TITLE...

I just saw the name of Saul Williams new record... Niggy Tardust. Holy crap, thats a good name for a record! Offensive, catchy... and a great Bowie reference. The album was recorded with Trent Reznor, so its bound to be good.

REMEMBER SPRAK...

In the summer of 2004, Sprak was killin' The Mission. Wings, boobs... what's not to love? Good times, good times.

KIDS ARE AWESOME...

I took this photo in SF a little over 4 years ago. Just a good reminder that a kid's drawing with a rainbow and smiley faces is far more important than any of the crap we see on a billboard or wall.

SHE'S COMIN' TO DENVER!!!...

Yup, it's official... Chelsea is moving to Denver next week!!! Finally. I was out in Humboldt last weekend for her graduation and it was awesome. I am really proud of her for going back to school for her nursing degree. We will be driving out to Denver next week with all of her stuff... I can't wait!! It's been a year in the making. See guys... I really DO have a girlfriend.

WOW...

I'm not usually one for "editorial" style photography, but this is just a great photo from Megan Mcatee. The great thing about this shot is that I don't think it was staged, and that makes the interaction that much more emotional.

EURO-GOODNESS...

I just found the work of Swedish designer and artist, Karl Grandin. This guy has a pretty amazing range of work and mediums... definitely worth spending a little time on his site. Enjoy.

Damn! I wish I had thought of the safety pin pentagram... or as he calls it, the pintagram. Even the name is genius!

JUST FINISHED...

Hey gang... I just finished designing the new album "Restless Rubes" from Southern rockers Ninja Gun. The album is being produced as both a CD and 12" LP. Some of the other fun stuff I designed to go along with the album are beer cozies, buttons, stickers and apparel. I'll post more photos as the products show up. Just thought I'd share.

RANDOM SNAPS...

SIMPLE DESTRUCTION...

Check out some cool new work from the British design studio, Zip.

WICKEDLY WONDROUS WALLPAPER...

I was sitting in the SF airport on Monday afternoon, reading the new issue of Dwell Magazine and almost fell out of my seat. I turned the page in the "cool new stuff" section and saw the work of my friend Mark Giglio!! PenPencilStencil is his new line of wallpaper and posters and not only are they stunning to look at, but are environmentally conscious. According to the site, "the wallpaper is screen printed by hand on recyclable paper, not smelly vinyl, with water based inks so there are no voc's off-gassing from the inks or paper." So... if you need some rad new wallpaper, buy it here.

SIEBEN + SWOPE = AWESOME...

As part of their ongoing series, artist Michael Sieben and master printer Nat Swope just released a new series of prints at the Fecal Face gallery. Both of these guys are incredibly talented, so check out some photos or support them and buy some prints.
