GREATEST TV BLOOPER EVER!...

If you haven't seen the clip of this jackass, be sure that your volume is turned up. The fun is at the end! Enjoy.

MODERN MAN...

I just found the work of British illustrator Ben Newman and thought y'all might enjoy it. Pretty nifty stuff. I think if Nate Williams and Tim Biskup had a baby together, it would draw like Ben Newman. Just a thought.

LOOKS LIKE FUN...

Here are two of the greatest car chases ever captured on film... aside from OJ and the white bronco, of course.

Steve McQueen in the 1968 classic, Bullitt.

Will Farrell and posse in Old School. Metallica's Master of Puppets really makes the scene.

SITTIN' PRETTY...

I love this unauthorized public art in the Lower East Side. The bench was raised 10 feet and put back in its place. Awesome. Read more about it here.

TIS' THE SEASON...

Tired of shopping? Don't need anymore crap filling up your apt? Hate spending money on things you know will just end up in a drawer? Put your money into something that will help all of us... the American Cancer Society. Donating is quick and easy online.

This is what my family and I are doing this year, in honor of my mom. She died of cancer 4 years ago this month. The holidays are hard, but this is one of the best ways for any of us to remember our loved ones and to help others.

p.s. - I hope that didn't come off "preachy." I don't mean to be. I just think there are better ways to spend your money at the holidays.

OH, STEADMAN...

This is my current desktop at work. Oprah, Steadman, and their dog Sophie... what's not to love?

ROMANTIC RIDE...

My friend Chondra, over at Life of Cinematic Moments (note the new URL), wrote a beautiful short story about a train ride that gave her a quick glimpse into true romance. Enjoy.

ART BASEL MIAMI...

So, it looks like Art Basel Miami 2007 was another splendid gathering of the worldwide art scene. Iggy Pop kicked off the fair with a live show on the beach opening night.Check out some photos on the Juxtapoz site. The Crown Dozen gang also put up a ton of photos on Flikr here.

Jen Starck, killing it as usual. Her pieces are all cut paper. That's right, individual pieces of paper. Insane and beautiful.

More cut paper madness from an unknown artist. Photos from Jeff Soto's blog on Fecal Face.

THANK YOU, CHUCK NORRIS...

So... I don't agree with Mike Huckabee's politics, but at least he is making the campaign race fun. Check out this ad with everyone's favorite hero, Chuck Norris. Also, check out this amazing zinger that Huckabee had at a Republican debate. Ouch!

Oh yeah... and if you ever needed another reason to think that Giuliani is a jackass, here it is. Enjoy.

JUST A GREAT VIDEO...

For some reason, The Refused and their video for New Noise just popped into my head. I love this song, this video, and this band. The album is titled The Shape of Punk To Come... yet, nothing has really touched it since.

Best lyrics in the song...
Great words won't cover ugly actions.
Good frames won't save bad paintings.

Also check out the singer dance moves, a la James Brown. If you like this, be sure to check out the International Noise Conspiracy. Same bunch of kids. Enjoy.

I HEART GEORGE CARLIN...

In case you forgot, George Carlin is a genius.
And here are a few reasons why...
Religion is bullshit
Pro Life is Anti-Woman
White People

THE LIFE OF A DRUNK OWL...

I found the site of Kentucky artist Kathleen Lolley via Design Sponge. I don't know much about her, but I love her work. Enjoy.

FEEL SAFE?...

Lewis Black on Homeland Security. Enjoy.

GET INSPIRED...

I know I mentioned the TED conference earlier, but I have spent all morning listening to these presentations while working. There are a TON of good videos on the site.
Here are a few of my favorites -
Vik Muniz: Art with wire, thread, sugar, chocolate
Paul Bennett: Design is in the details
Richard Branson: Life at 30,000 feet
Ross Lovegrove: The power and beauty of organic design
John Maeda: Simplicity patterns

QUOTE OF THE DAY...

Modernism means white box.
- John Maeda

WHY DESIGN?...

Renowned designer Philippe Starck gave a smart, no-frills, funny-as-hell speech at the TED conference. This annual conference brings together some of the greatest minds in Technology, Entertainment and Design. His heavy French accent and broken English make the speech even funnier. If you have 18 minutes to kill, check out the video.

HANDS ON...

Again, I'm not sure how I found this Flikr page, but I like it. This is a series of photos with people using only their hands and arms to create letters and words. Looks like fun.

CHANGING HISTORY...

There is no info on this site, but I am really diggin' these altered silhouettes. Of course, my favorite is the bear eating the little boy. Not because I am a sadist... I just love bears.

WHITE SPACE...

swissmiss is the design blog of designer Tina Roth Eisenberg. Much like yours truly, she enjoys scouring the web for random goodness. Spend some time on the blog. Good stuff.

STEP BACK IN TIME...

I can't remember how I found this Flikr page, but it is chock-full of great old photos. Apparently, they were found in an old loft. I love this kind of stuff. Unfortunately, Photoshop has desensitized me to the actual look of aging. Damn you Photoshop!

(Ironically, I needed Photoshop to be able to publish this image.)

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR...

Industrial design site Core 77 has just put out their Ultimate Gift Guide for 2007. They have narrowed down your shopping list for this holiday season to some great design nerdy gifts, all under $77.

My favorite is the Atypyk House Cheese sponge.

THE ART OF MONEY...

This is origami with actual money from around the world. Somebody has a lot of time on their hands. Still pretty cool, though.

Why does Lincoln looked so pissed?

BUSY DUDE...

Sorry about the delay on the ol' bloggy blog. Chelsea and I were out of town for a few days and life after work has been crazy. I swear I will post some randomness this weekend. Stay tuned.

SADDEST PHOTO EVER...

Yup, it's true.

FUN WITH THE FRENCH...

I stumbled upon the site for the French architecture firm emmanuel combarel dominique marrec architectes while on the ol' world wide information superweb. I wish I knew French, because then I could tell you what these buildings are. In any language, they are pretty damn amazing. The first one looks like a big LEGO buiding. I wanna live in a big LEGO building. Enjoy.

I JUST DON'T KNOW...

This is Snoop's new video for his single Sensual Seduction. He is either a genius... or back on the pipe. You decide.

REMEMBER...

To click this everyday. It only takes a second. Thanks.

LOVE 4 AMY...

I found this flyer at a coffee shop, and couldn't believe it. This girl was a victim of a hit and run on her bike, and is now stuck with the massive medical bills. She is having a fund-raiser at the Balazo Gallery in SF this Friday to help pay for it all. People from all over have donated artwork and handmade goods for her to sell and auction off. Pretty rad. Check out her blog for more info... and ALWAYS look for cyclists when you are driving.
This has been a Public Service Announcement from The Kitchen Table.

OFFICE SUPPLIES...

SF designer Jason Schulte, principal of Office Design (and mid-westeern bowling champ), just released his new print for the holidays. At only $16, this makes a great gift.

PEEP THIS...

I just found a link to Peepshow, a fun art&design collective in England. Check out their reel to see some of their animation work. Talented kids.

MY CONDOLENCES...

Skateboarding is officially dead.

Yup, that's right. You are looking at leather and ostrich "special" edition skateboards. The geniuses over at the French chapter of mini-lifestyle magazine Frank151 teamed up with luxury leather goods maker Jacques Ferrand to create these. Ree-diculous!

OH, CANADA...

I am diggin' the first video from these Canadian youngsters, The Flatliners. It definitely has a strong Fat Wreck Chords feel, but I like it. They are on tour right now, so go to a show and buy 'em a beer... cuz they're not old enough. So sad.

VERY IMPORTANT LEGISLATION...

Sorry... this is too good not to post. Warning - this is not safe for work. Enjoy.

MR. SPLASHY PANTS...

I just got an email from Corie about this competition.

More than 11,000 possible whale names were submitted but we are now down to the last 30 possible whale names...which ones will be given to the wonderful humpback whales currently travelling on the Great Whale Trail?

Choose your favourite name from among the 30 and hit the submit button at the bottom of the page. You can only vote once but you can ask as many friends to vote as you like.

The obvious choice is Mr. Splashy Pants. If you were a whale, wouldn't you want to be called Mr. Splashy Pants. I would. Now, Mr. Splashy Pants currently has 70% of the vote, but we need to make sure it is chosen. Please vote.

EVERY KID'S DREAM...

Local artist Katy Horan recently completed all of the illustrations for this great video from Yoriyos. Enjoy.

12oz PROPHET RELAUNCH...

Graf magazine kings 12oz. Prophet have relaunched their site, with a ton of improvements and new guest blogs. Enjoy.

FISH STICKS ANYONE?...

My friend Jeremy has just released a collaborative limited-edition 3 skate deck series between his company Superfishal and Upper Playground. For each deck, he collaborated with an artist that he admires - such as (from L to R) Michael Sieben, Todd Bratrud and Pushead. Check them out here.
