BEHIND THE SCENES...

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a record label? Well, now you can find out. Virgil made a little video this morning of the Suburban Home Records office/warehouse. Check it out and you can see yours truly, hard at work. Enjoy.

RANDUMB PHOTO...

I saw this on my way home the other day and had to take a quick photo. In case you can't read the name on the back of this Hummer, it says www.ClassyUkraineWomen.com
Awesome.

DO YOU TWITTER?...

I do. My screen name is "funisok". Join me, won't you?

WILL THAT FIT UNDER YOUR SEAT?...

Apparently, the good folks at the Birmingham International Airport didn't look too closely when they printed their annual report. If you look closely at the suitcase x-ray photo on page 11, you will notice a certain phallic love toy silhouette on the left hand side. This is a perfect example of what happens when you piss off the designer. Thanks, Corie.

X ROCKS THE FUN...

The Denver blog X Rocks The Spot was kind enough to announce and endorse the new FUN is OK site. Thanks for the post and the kind words, Broox.

JUST A REMINDER...

Please take a moment to help fund mammograms by going here. It only takes a second and all you have to do is click the pink button. As someone who has been deeply and personally affected by cancer, I'd really appreciate it. The chance of helping a woman get a free mammogram can make a world of difference to more people than you know. Thank you.

FALL IS HERE...

And I love it. The days are crisp and the colors are amazing. You just don't get this in California. Thanks Colorado!

RENEWING MY FAITH IN METAL...

My friend Chris Fogal (The Gamits, Pinhead Circus) has a new metal band called Taun Taun. Along with band mates Matty Clark (Sleeper Horse), Dave Barker (Pinhead Circus, Rocky Votolato) and Ian Odaugherty... Taun Taun played their first show last weekend and blew the doors off the Larimer Lounge. Their set was no nonsense, straight up metal and I loved every minute of it. Here are a few (not-so-good) photos. I also posed 2 videos from the show on my YouTube page. Enjoy.

DUDES WEEKEND...

So... I am finally getting back to the blog and playing a little catch-up. I have been so focused on getting my site done, that I have been neglecting this little guy.

A few weeks back, a couple of my buddies organized a "dudes weekend." We went to a house out in the middle of nowhere and had 2 days of pure "dude stuff." You know... eating too much, drinking way too much, chainsaws, BBQing, video games, fire, etc... It was a damn good weekend. Here are some shots from the lovely and talented Cory Grunkemeyer. Enjoy.

The dudes (left to right) - Cory, Zach, Fogal, Dylan, Virgil, Stabba, Kap, me, Sean, Chuck, Joey

The property and the view were incredible. Coming from California, I've never had seasons before. To see the Aspen trees turn color was a real awakening about how amazing nature truly is.

That's Baxter, our guard dog and professional stick catcher.

Then the party got started... and so did the chainsaw.
Beer + chainsaw = good times.

Insert penis joke here. Poor Joey.

Drunken Virgil... always a good time.

Fogal and Zach trapped in a camera, but still having fun. I'm not sure, but I think they may have been drinking.

And of course, a giant fire.

Here are a couple shots I took:

Baxter, looking pretty fierce.

... and looking like he's gonna eat my arm.

Fogal, playing hard to get with Baxter. He eventually gave in to the love.

While flipping around 900 satellite channels, we found some good wholesome shows.

We ended up finding a 7 hour documentary on the history of rock on VH1. Here's a shot of a young Peter Gabriel, when he was in Genesis with Phil Collins. Yes, he's wearing a red dress and a bear head... sooo rock n' roll.

I just like this guy's beard.

These Aspens are a color that even Crayola hasn't figured out yet.

In case read the sign on the left, it's a drop-off taxidermy business. Awesome.

MY NEW WEBSITE...

As you may know, I am back to working full-time as a freelance designer and art director. With that, I have launched my new site...
FUN is OK.

If you or anyone you know needs a designer, please let me know.

HE'S GOT MY VOTE...

Christopher Knight sealed up my vote for school board with this inspirational video.

THE REVIVAL TOUR...

REVIVAL ROAD revival tour 08

Check out this video of The Revival Tour so far... starring Tim Barry, Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols, Austin Lucas and a handful of others. I can't wait for the show tomorrow night in Ft. Collins and Thursday night in Denver. This is a truly incredible collection of musicians. I am proud to be designing Austin Lucas' upcoming release on Suburban Home Records.

WARHOL-ITICS...

This little nod to Warhol is the latest piece from Mr. Brainwash. I wish the candidates had to do the debates in drag... it would at least make them worth watching. Happy Friday.

PHOTOS FROM THE UNDERGROUND...

I spent last night in a secret basement, helping the Only Thunder guys silkscreen the covers for their upcoming full-length record... and I gotta say, they're looking pretty damn good. Be sure to check out the Only Thunder record release show at the Larimer Lounge on Oct. 25!

LIFE IS GOOD...

I almost forgot about this night, a while back. This was taken at the Mike Park and Sundowner (Chris McCaughan from The Lawrence Arms) acoustic show. From left to right... that's Mike Herrera (Sleeper Horse, Tin Horn Prayer), Scooter James (Love Me Destroyer, Pinhead Circus), yours truly and Virgil Dickerson (owner of Suburban Home Records). Good friends and a great night.

STILL AMAZING...

We are all doomed. And her response the next day was just as sad. For her sake, I hope this chick never gets fat.

NEVER THOUGHT PORN WAS FUNNY, UNTIL NOW...

Diesel's SFW XXX Party Clip - Watch more free videos
If you haven't seen this by now... well, you probably live under a rock. But, its still funny as hell.

OH, WHAT A NIGHT...

Thursday night... here's what I remember - a delicious BBQ at Brian's house, some beer, free tickets and a backstage pass to one of my all-time favorite bands Lagwagon at The Ogden, more beer, Lagwagon playing an incredible show, Jagermeister, even more beer and shots... and that's where it gets fuzzy. According to the following photos, and a few stories I've been told, I had a great time backstage enjoying a fully stocked booze fridge with my friends Joey, Virgil, Andy, Caroline and the band. Thanks for the tix, Virgil.

I also posted some videos on my YouTube page.
Enjoy... I sure as hell did.

Joey, Joey Cape, Virgil, yours truly, Caroline... before the show in the green room backstage.

Joey getting his gear ready to trim that dirty little moustache on stage.

That is one handsome duo.
P.S. - This was a little surreal for me because I've been a huge Lagwagon fan for 15 years. See kids... dreams do come true.

MxPx... live. I've never been a fan because of their religious ties, but they put on a damn good show.

Ghost on stage.

Yes, ladies... Andy is single.

More MxPx.

Something's not right with this dude's arm.

We were lucky enough to watch the entire show from the stage, and I gotta say the view is pretty great.

After their set, the MxPx guys kicked it for a while backstage. The drummer was giving Andy a bit of an extended massage, but I'm pretty sure he liked it.

Then... Lagwagon took the stage and the place exploded.

Jon Snodgrass (far right) joined the party.

Dave Raun, also the drummer for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, was beatin' the hell out of those drums. Insane.

"Hey guys, you know what we should do? Drink way too much." "Sounds like a good idea, Jon. Let's do it!"

Rockin' on stage.

The roadie diggin' deep.

"Seriously Joey... I need another beer. Don't worry about how much I've already spilled on my shirt."

"Ahhhh... me, too."

God damn... that was a good night.

Long time buddies, Jon Snodgrass and Joey Cape.
